授業の内容（Course Description） |

In this course, we will study different methods of translation. These will include close translation, translation for meaning, summary translation, oral summary translation, etc. The emphasis will be on practical translations, such as translations of news headlines, weather forecasts, schedules, life stories, cultural topics, and so on. Translations will be Japanese-English, and English-Japanese.This course is a continuation of Seminar I.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a good ability to translate a wide variety of materials, and be able to adjust the type of translation to the aim of the translation.

授業の計画（Course Syllabus) |
|
Lesson content will include the following:
1.Translating advertisements and other types of copy
2.Writing letters in English and Japanese
3.Translating dialogues (e.g., from English-language films)
4.Orally summarizing English newspaper articles in Japanese
5.Orally summarizing Japanese newspaper articles in English
6.Explaining Japanese-language manuals in English
7.Explaining Japanese sightseeing brochures in English
Each of the above will take approximately two lessons.
