授業の内容（Course Description） |
|
In the course, we will study the cultural history of the United States from the colonial period（植民地時代）to the beginning of the 1900s. The course will focus on such historical moments as the settlement（植民地の建設）, the War of Independence（独立戦争）, slavery（奴隷制）and the Civil War. The course will place a special emphasis on issues of race（人種）, gender（ジェンダー）and ethnicity （民族性）in American culture. Literay texts, film clips and documentaries will be used to help students explore American culture from diverse perspectives. We will do a lot of reading and listening excercises in class. Students will practice language skills and improve their vocabularies

|
やさしい英語のテキストを使い、アメリカ文化史の基本を把握した上で、英語の読解力の向上も目指します。
更に各時代の背景、文化、社会、文学を考察し、アメリカ文化と日本文化、そしてアジア文化との違いなどについて自分の意見を持つことも重視します。

学生への要望・その他（Class Requirements） |
|
１． 分かりやすい英語のテキストを使うことになりますが、予習と復習を必ず行うこと。
２．授業開始からの15分間は、ビデオなどの説明或いは小テストの時間になりますので、遅刻は厳禁とする。
３．前期と後期は同じテキストを使う。必ず教科書を購入すること。
４．授業中に、質問以外は、私語厳禁とする。
