授業の内容（Course Description） |
|
In this course, we will study the cultural history of the United States from the colonial period（植民地時代）to the beginning of the 1900s. The course will focus on important historical moments such as the War of Independence（独立戦争) and the Civil War. The course will place a special emphasis on issues of race（人種）, gender（ジェンダー）and ethnicity （民族性）in American culture. Literay texts, film clips and documentaries will be used to help students explore American culture from diverse perspectives. We will do a lot of reading and listening excercises in class. Students will practice language skills and improve their vocabularies .

|
前期の授業を通じて、様々な角度からアメリカの文化と歴史を紹介し、アメリカ文化史に関する基本知識の習得を目標とする。そしてアメリカの建国の理想とその重要な意味について学びつつ、人種など影の面を理解することも目標となる。

授業時間外の学習《準備学習》（Assignments） |
|
１．英語で書かれたテキストを読み、しっかり毎回授業の予習と復習をすること。
２．毎回の授業内容に合わせて、図書館の指定図書を使い、リサーチする課題も課される。
３．授業の内容を定着させるため、前期と後期の学期内に２回ずつ小テストを行う。

１．遅刻は厳禁とする。
２．前期と後期は同じテキストを使う。必ず教科書を購入すること。
