1. 授業の内容(Course Description)
This course, held only in English, aims to improve students’ speaking and listening skills in communicative English. This includes the learning of various skills and knowledge, such as pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, grammar, and word usage. Lessons include a variety of activities intended to stimulate students to actively practice speaking English in class and prepare for the TOEIC. Since the course has an “oral communications” focus, active participation in class is required, both for grading and for the student’s meaningful progress in speaking skills.

授業の到達目標(Course Objectives)
The purpose of this course is to improve the English speaking and listening skills of students. By the end of this semester, students should be able to develop more effective listening skills, acquire the ability to speak more effectively, and enhance the ability to better understand spoken English.

成績評価方法(Grading Policy)
Final grades are calculated on the basis of 50% for class participation and 50% for the final exam.

授業時間外の学習《準備学習》(Assignments)
Completion of all questions and answers in writing in the textbook for each assigned chapter as preparation for required listening and speaking in all classes.

学生への要望・その他(Class Requirements)
Class participation grades are based on attendance, active participation in class, quality of work, effort, and attitude. The final exam, given during the last class, will cover all of the class work of the semester.

授業の計画(Course Syllabus)
Selective chapters from the first half of the textbook will form the basis of two classes per chapter.
Selected videos in English will be shown as a basis for discussion.
