授業の内容(Course Description) |
|
In this class, we will be examining, discussing and thinking critically about the way that English is used to communicate in a variety of cultural settings. Special emphasis will be given on the Cultural English of Canada and its relationship with world Englishes. We will learn about, use, analyze, and sometimes create the English language that is used in everyday situation in the Canada and other English speaking parts of the world. Idioms, as well as well as situational English, will be used to further understanding about the way native English speakers use English as opposed to how other people from different cultures use their language. Grammar will be used to further understanding; however, an emphasis on meaning will be used as a path to better speaking and communication. You will get the chance to speak with and get to know a native speaker of English as well as have the opportunity to practice the English strategies, phrases, and idioms that you learn in class.
