1. 授業の内容(Course Description)
Natural English is studied and practiced. Particular focus is placed on understanding and using the real English sounds of native speakers in everyday topics. Students will learn to identify and use speech patterns and pronunciation that will allow them to communicate more naturally with native speakers. Active participation, including interaction among class participants, is required. (Two course sequence.)

授業の到達目標(Course Objectives)
To improve English listening and speaking skills on the micro (pronunciation) and macro (grammar) level.
To recognize the differences between written and spoken English.
 To gain confidence communicating in English.

成績評価方法(Grading Policy)
Students will be graded in both written tests and assessed spoken activities.
Written tests will focus on recognition of natural speech patterns and grammar. Spoken assessments focus on correct usage of natural speech patterns in natural situations.
Tests will be graded at 30% each and the spoken assessment at 40%. Additionally, a lack of active participation, lateness to class and other problems will result in serious penalties.

Notebooks should be submitted twice a semester

学生への要望・その他(Class Requirements)
Regular attendance (Maximum 4 absences).
All tests and assignments must be completed on time.
Active participation, including interaction among class participants, is required.
In case of absence, students must communicate with the teacher to find out about the missed lesson and homework assignments.
