Objectives
Throught the learning of manufacturing methods, mechanical characteristics, and concerning usages of nonferrous materials, students get the elementary knowledge of the structural materials, which becomes the foundation of the machine design, and nuture the feeling to machined materials.

Outline
You study about various metallic and the non-metallic materials, learn the elementary knowledge of the structural material, and cultivate the feeling to machined materials. You will study manufacturing methods, mechanical characteristics and usages of the materials to process metals and the metallic materials consisting of the machine, to get the elementary knowledge of the structural materials which becomes the foundation of the machine design, and nurture the feeling to machined materials. The main targets of the learning are stainless steel, nickel, copper, aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, and so on, as the nonferrous metallic materials. Furthermore, new will cover non-metallic substance such as cement, lumber and plastic. The lecture will be given on the basis of the textbook and there are exercises. On occasion, these exercises are requested to be submitted as reports.
