1.
Objectives
In the first half of the semester, I shall lecture on what radiation is and what kind of affects appears when we are exposed to radiation. In the latter half, I shall lecture on ways of use of radioisotopes in the field of biochemistry and the representative results brought by them. In addition, I shall comment on the law and the facility's original regulations for the prevention of the radiation damage. Through this series of lectures, I hope that students will be able to make the right scientific decisions.

Outline
In this course, the students learn the contents below:
(1) Radiation and radioactivity
(2) Scientific apparatus using radiation
(3) Affects of radiation on the human body
(4) The basics of safe handling
(5) The use of the RI in biochemistry
(6) The prevention of radiation damage
As teaching materials, I also use DVDs edited by the Japan Radioisotope Association.
