1. Course Description
In this course, discussed are demographic issues of contemporary Japan that have much effect on the economy. The topics to be covered will include longevity, low fertility, age-sex composition and rapid ageing of Japan's population, changes in marital status and household composition, international migration, internal migration and changes in geographical population distribution, and future population projections. In the spring semester, basic concepts and methods frequently used in demographic data analyses will be discussed introducing relevant demographic statistics.
