1. Course Description
The topics in this seminar are (1)Liberal education, and (2)Japanese economy.

Liberal arts and sciences is the traditional carriculum in American universities and colleges,which emphasizes wide and deep understanding of humanity and critical learning in one's special area of study as well. Students in this seminar try to get real understanding of the usefullness of university learning through American way of liberal education in order to obtain one's own meaning of life and career.

In order to learn current situation of Japanese economy we need to learn Asian economies and American-European economies in terms of increasingly intertwined relationships of the global world. Students learn various aspects of the Japanese economy by choosing and presenting selected topics each week, and by discussing them in lively classroom.

Grading will be based on one's performance: Attendance: 30%, Class discussion & question:30%, Term paper:40%
