Course Description |

In this course, we will study Japanese economic and industrial development from the formative period of modern technology in Meiji to the period of W.W.Ⅱ. It will include (a)Histry of modern economic development in Europe and U.S., (b)Repetitive business cycles since Japanese modern economic growth started, (c)Industrial and technological development in modern sector such as shipbuilding and iron, and in traditional sector such as raw silk and cotton and (d)The process of Japanese technological catch-up to European countries and U.S. Through studying these subjects, we will understand the histrical meaning of Japanese industrial revolution.
