Course Description |

The purpose of the course is to look into effects of tourism to local society and of society to tourism from the point of view of social science. In this course, the students learn the tourism from a variety of perspectives including industrial organization studies and sociology. In a spring semester, the students discuss “people” which engage in or participate with tourism, such as tourists and hosts. In an autumn semester, they learn about some new types of tourism and consider the social role of tourism.
