Course Description |

Human beings cannot live in a "state of nature", in whichever form one may construe that should be. Living in a particular cultural environment and entangled in a particular web of social networks is the human condition in which one inevitably finds him / herself. This means that the state of human beings is essentially diversified through time and place. Cultural anthropology is the endeavor to explore this diversity by looking into pluralized forms of human beings found in multiple locales around the globe. In this series of lectures, students are introduced into basics of cultural anthropology. Special attention is paid on the topics concerning gender and sexuality, which shall make an especially fertile arena to discuss human condition deeply ingrained in culture and society -often far more deeply than imagined most commonly.
