The person who has common sense will associate Hitler, Nazism, and Holocaust, etc. from word Germany. Because the brutality by Germany stood out certainly in the first half of the 20th century and it is related to such topics. However, we should examine this common sense closely: Was the brutality a peculiar phenomenon to Germany or was it a phenomenon of the 20th century? Obviously, the brutality by the nation did not disappear from the world with the collapse of Nazi Germany. It was repeated afterwards, and exists now. In short, the 20th century was an age when the brutality had coexisted with prosperity. The typical situation appeared in Germany in the first half of the 20th century. The aim of the lecture is to clarify an economical, social problem with which Germany was confronted in the first half of the 20th century.
