Course Description |

In this course, discussed are demographic issues of contemporary Japan that have much effect on the economy. The topics to be covered will include longevity, low fertility, age-sex composition and rapid ageingof Japan's population, changes in marital status and household composition, international migration, internal migration and changes in geographical population distribution, and future population projections. In the fall semester, after explaining disparity in geographical population distribution, the effects of the demographic structures and their changes on the society and economy of Japan will be discussed.
