1. Course Description
This course aims to obtain basic knowledge of financial system in Japan. First, in spring, you will learn about main functions of financial institutions, structure of the short-term and long-term financial markets, including money market, foreign currency market, bond market and stock market, and the key role of Bank of Japan's market operation. Then, in autumn, you will study historical developments of Japanese financial institutions and its current issues, especially after the collapse of the so called "bubble economy" in 1980s.
