Objectives |

This course is about the history of science concerning living things. The themes of lectures are medical and natural histories. From ancient times, natural history was divided into mineralogy, botany, and zoology. "Biology" appeared in circa 1800 in Europe.

Why or how the formation of the research area of biology was occuered? What is modern biology? In the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, what was the state of medicine and natural history? In modern ages, what are the states of anthropology, eugenics, ecology, and the science of sex and sexuality?
