Web Syllabus(講義概要)

　The purpose of this course is to help students improve their presentation skills in English. Classes involve lessons on “the art of presentation” and activities to learn ways of making presentations more effective. During the course, students are required to show their understanding by taking short tests and to demonstrate their proficiency by giving presentations in English.
　Note: The level of this course is equivalent to B1 - B2 of the CEFR.
　「英語で意見を述べて相手を納得させる」技能を高めるための授業である。プレゼンテーションの理論を学んだ上で、実践を通して多様な表現技術を習得する。英語のプレゼンテーションを課すほか、授業内容に関する小テストも行う。
　備考：当該授業は、「ヨーロッパ言語共通参照枠（CEFR: Common European Framework of Reference for Languages）」におけるB1～B2レベルに準拠している。すなわち、トピックが具体的であろうと抽象的であろうと、複雑な文章の主意を理解できる。自分の専門分野においても高度な議論ができる。英語母語話者と自然なコミュニケーションを図ることができる。様々な話題について明快で詳細な文章を作れる。あるトピックについて、その長所と短所を比較して自分自身の見解を述べることができる。

　The aim of this course is to enable you to:
　(1) structure the content of a presentation in a logical sequence
　(2) use effective techniques for delivering a presentation in English
　(3) evaluate a presentation according to objective criteria
　(1) 論理の展開に沿ってプレゼンテーションの内容を組み立てられる
　(2) 英語プレゼンテーションにおいて効果的な表現技術を駆使できる
　(3) 客観的な基準に照らしてプレゼンテーションを評価できる

　Your final grade will be based on the following:
　　　30%　Attendance, Participation and Preparedness
　　　20%　Short Tests
　　　50%　Presentations
　積極的な授業参加（30％）、小テスト（20％）、プレゼンテーション（50％）で総合的に評価する。

　Classes A～I：『Presentations in English: Find Your Voice as a Presenter』（Macmillan / 128 pages / ￥2,940）

　You are expected to come to class fully (or at least adequately) prepared.
　予習・復習は必須。予習をしている前提で授業を進める。

　In order to learn correct, natural, real English, you must avoid using online translation services such as Google Translate. You are strongly recommended to use an English-English (rather than English-Japanese) dictionary.
　正しい語感を損なわせるという理由から、「Google翻訳」等のオンライン翻訳サイトの使用厳禁。自然な語感を身につけるために、英和辞典よりも「英英辞典」の使用を推奨する。
