The students will study the basis of the disaster prevention policies including the role of the central and local governments and the Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures. The students will also learn some concrete examples as "case-studies" to know how to react in times of disaster such as the Great Hanshin Earthquake and marine accidents (such as the Nakhodka oil spill accident which polluted the coastline with a large amount of crude oil). How to exhibit leadership is one of the most important issues in controlling a disaster. The students will learn "the People Protection Law" promulgated in 2004 to develop a full security system for the entire country.
