Objectives |
|
What are composite materials? Composite theory based on the elasticity theory will be presented, followed by an overview of carbon fiber and plastics. The goal of this course is to understand the adequate design concept of composite materials and to be able to calculate their properties.

Outline |
|
This course is divided into two parts. The first part is the manufacturing process of polymer and the properties of both fiber and polymer materials. The second part is the mechanical properties of composite materials including the rule of mixture and the laminate theory based on the anisotropic elasticity theory.
