Course Description |

Understanding the features of Kaisho (楷書: printed style writing, c: 楷书 kǎishū) as well as to acquire rudimentary techniques by Rinsho (臨書: imitating classical calligraphic works to master great techniques from them, c: 临摹línmó) using classical calligraphic works. This class will primarily focus on Rinsho of classical calligraphic works. Students are also required to understand the historic and cultural backgrounds of the calligraphic works and to learn Kaisho by two means: practice and knowledge. Credit is not influenced by experience of calligraphy.
