1. Course Description
In this course, we will look back Japanese histry down to the Meiji era and study various regional economic problems turned up with its modern economic growth. It will deal with (a)The repetitive economic depresions which caused massive emigration from Honsyu to Ezo district(Hokkaido) and abroad such as Hawaii, U.S., Brazil and Asian colonies, (b)The impacts of the histrical depression and poor harvest which attacked Tohoku district in early Showa era, (c)The massive outflow of excess young labor force from rural farming villages to Tokyo during the high economic growth period, (d)Japanese government's land-development policy and national spacial strategies after the W.W.Ⅱ and (e)The problem of unipolar concentration to Tokyo.
