The format of this course is mainly “lecture”, but students will take “review tests” once each month (four times total) and take part in “group discussions” to develop the abilities of communication and presentation, which is essential for university students.
2.
Objectives
This course aims to :
1. Teach students to understand the “universality of capitalism”, or the basic structure of the “market economy system”.
2. Teach students to understand the differences between western capitalism and capitalism in Japan from the historical point of view, on the basis of the “diversity of capitalism” (already learned in the course “Introduction to Economic History”).
3. Motivate students to think about the Japanese economy in the globalization of capitalism.
