1. 授業の概要(ねらい)

 This course provides an overview of China's economic reforms, opening-up, and a general picture of China's economic development since the end of the end of World War II. It is also a workshop to help students examining the sources of China's economic growth with statistic data and factsheets, analyzing issues of the Chinese economy with the basic principles and tools of economics, and make students understand the significance of GVC division and China's further reform and opening-up.
 Participants will be grouped to do their own topics, surveys and reports (please select topics according to the course syllabus). The reports will be presented and discussed in each class.

授業の到達目標

 By completing the course, students are expected to outline the reasons why China maintained a high-speed growth in the past three decades and have a systematic thinking in challenges to be facing in the future.

成績評価の方法および基準

 1. Active participation in the class (20%).
2. Presentation(30%)
3. Final Report on Chinese economy(50%)

教科書・参考書

There are no assigned textbook.
Reference:Naughton Barry (2007),The Chinese Economy: Transitions and Growth, The MIT Press., and other books on the Chinese economy in Japanese or Chinese.

準備学修の内容

 Please pay more attention to the Chinese economy, Chinese society and culture in the media, such as newspapers, television, and the Internet.

その他履修上の注意事項

 All students will be expected to attend lectures regularly, absence of more than 1/3 of classes will automatic result in a failing grade. The Japanese and Chinese language(mandarin) are also usable.
