In this course, you will learn basic functions and mechanisms of operating systems, and things required to modern operating systems. Specifically, you will learn the following.
* An overview of operating systems
* Operating systems from the viewpoint of end users
* Principles of operating systems
* Structures of processes and scheduling
* Concurrency
* Memory management
* File systems
* Authentication and access control
These serve as a basis for knowledge on the diploma policy 4.

* User interfaces and application programming interfaces provided to end users and programmers
