Outline
We will use a textbook for developing reading skills and do some exercises to check the students' comprehension of the text and develop vocabulary. Some of the exercises are designed to help the students learn English oral comprehension and speaking ability. This class is designed to achieve Learning Goals 1,2 and 3 of the General Basic Subjects, incorporating active learning.

Objectives
The purpose of this course is to enable students to attain an advanced level of speaking proficiency in English.

Grading Policy
Classroom participation 30%, homework and quizzes 20%, midterm exam 25%, final exam 25%. Students will receive feedback when homework and quizzes are returned and model answers for the mid-term and final exam will be provided in the class immediately after the exams.

Requirements (Assignments)
Students should prepare by previewing class exercises in the textbook for 30 minutes before class and by completing 1 hour of written homework.
