Introduction to Practice of Museography

Outline
The participants will receive the practical training at a museum during summer vacation. In the first semester, the prior preparations for the training will be done. And also, the participants will practice (fictional) exhibition planning with group work.
In the second semester, we share reports of practical training at a museum with each other.
2.
Objectives
This class is the final step in order to acquire qualification as curator of a museum.
3.
Grading Policy
Evaluate with submissions and attendance (20%) such as group work's deliverables (30%), reports (50%), reaction papers etc.
The museum practical training will be evaluated based on the practice book issued from the museum where the practical training was conducted.
4.
Textbook and Reference
Textbook: None
In addition to distributing resume as necessary, reference books etc. will be introduced as appropriate. Documents of each lesson will be posted on LMS.
5.
Requirements (Assignments)
Please thoroughly investigate the museums that each student is planning to practice. Also, please be interested in the exhibitions of museums and science museums in various places, and periodically browse newspapers, internet news, museums, science museums, etc.
In group work, we will create a fictitious planning exhibition plan. Think about interesting plan and ideas and actively contribute to group work.
We will instruct necessary preparation in class.
After practical training, we will have the report submit based on learning which we got from the practical training, reflection point etc, and share the experience with everyone.

Note
It is a museum curator qualification compulsory subject. Two units of practical training and one unit of practical instruction will be evaluated separately.
