Outline
  After having analyzed households’ expenditure in the course “Economics of Our Daily Lives Ⅰ”, now we will deal with the income aspect of households. Firstly students study today’s work condition, such as wage level, working hours, labor rights and obligations in companies. Secondly, they will learn social insurance and welfare protection system to cope with various risks that can not be supported by individual effort alone. Thirdly, they will learn about the positive understanding of 'social rights' which have been accepted since the 1920s, but today there is the pressure in many developed countries to shrink this system as a result of budget deficit. This course is related to departments DP 1, 2, 3.

Objectives
 Students will understand the characteristics of so-called "Japanese style labor-management relations " and the its transformation since the 1990s. They can discuss now its predictable change in the future. Next they will study social insurance and public aid system. Here students must take into account the budget crisis and the possibility of shrinking welfare system in the near future.
