1.
Outline
In this course students learn economic features of the distribution process of goods. First of all, they study the reason why producers don’t sell their products directly to consumers, but sell to merchants or distributors who are professionally in charge of the distribution process. Next they analyze various types of retailers who sell products to consumers, such as old-style family-run small shops, department stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, drug stores, and mail-order companies. In addition, they will learn how to distribute perishable foods such as fish and vegetables whose distribution system is different from that of ordinary goods. In this context, the system of wholesale market for perishable goods will be analyzed in detail. This course is related to the DP 1 and DP 2.
2.
