Outline
A placement test is required for this course. By learning grammar, we can understand how sentences are constructed and how to construct sentences. We will do some exercises to check the understanding and apply the grammatical knowledge to four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The exercises will also help to develop vocabulary. This class is designed to achieve Learning Goals 1, 2, and 3 of the General Basic Subjects incorporating active learning.

Objectives
The purpose of this course is to enable students to learn elementary level grammar to improve their English proficiency.

Grading Policy
Classroom participation 30%, homework and quizzes 20%, midterm exam 25%, final exam 25%. Students will receive feedback when homework and quizzes are returned, and model answers for the midterm and final exam will be provided in class immediately after the exams.

Requirements (Assignments)
Students should prepare by previewing class exercises in the textbook for 30 minutes before class, and by completing 1 hour of written homework.
