Course Description

This class aims to understand Western History (1) in the perspective of the history of the planet earth and life, (2) through the fundamental concepts of civilization, state, war, religion, politics etc.from their origin, (3) through the reading of the exerpts of the Greek and Roman classcics. It treats with the period from the birth of the planet earth to the emergence of the medeival Europe, but places emphasis on the ancient age. Students are expected to understand Western History in the global perspective, and to learn how to make their own image of the history.
