Course Description

In this course, we aim to understand the political history of India from the colonial era to the 21st century, and the relations between Indian politics, society and economy. In the autumn semester, we study the political history of India from the latter half of the 1980s to the present, focusing on how the socio-economic factors such as caste, religion and economy have changed the nature of the Indian politics. I will give you a quiz at the end of each class, so that you can check your understanding and express your own opinions on the topics discussed.
