Course Description

In this course, we aim to understand the political history of India from the colonial era to the 21st century, and the relations between Indian politics, society and economy. In the spring semester, we study the political history of India from the colonial era to the latter half of the 1980s, focusing on how India's one-party dominant party system was formed and collapsed. I will give you a quiz at the end of each class, so that you can check your understanding and express your own opinions on the topics discussed.
