Course Description

Fieldwork, a body of methods for qualitative social research, is broadly acknowledged as an indispensable tool for empirical social investigations. In this course, students are introduced to the basics of fieldwork in the context of sociological/anthropological research. Reading through a textbook on field research methods as well as some ethnographic writings, a comprehensive understanding of the research practice is going to be developed. By learning the methods, participants are expected to get equipped with better knowledge of how to broaden/deepen their perspective on contemporary society, too.
