Course Description

Information organization is roughly divided into cataloging (descriptive cataloging) and, classification and indexing (subject cataloging). In this course, with the knowledge of infromation organization and information retrieval learned in "Introduction to information organization", we exercise and practice subject cataloging work in the library using Japanese standard tool, "Nippon Decimal Classification 9th edition" (NDC) and "National Diet Library Subject Headings" (NDLSH).
