Course Description

This course focuses on world history in the period, 1914-2010, discussing in some detail historical events, political systems and ideologies that underlie them.
The twentieth century was a period of dramatic events. It witnessed two calamitous world wars, the emergence of communism and fascism and a radical change in international relations. After the end of World War II, the world entered the era of the Cold War which came to an end with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Since then, the United States, the remaining superpower, has been challenged militarily, politically and ideologically.
