Course Description

Cognitive Neuroscience

The Very Short Introductions series, published by Oxford University Press, provides many good introductory textbooks on psychology, animal behavior, brain science, psychiatry, etc. In this seminar, we will read Cognitive Neuroscience, by Richard Passingham, Ph.D. Dr. Passingham (1943-) is well-known for his works on functions of the frontal lobe, neuroimaging, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy. This book covers a wide range of topics, including perception, attention, memory, reasoning, and decision making. It is imperative that every student who majors in psychology has a basic understanding of the brain functions relevant to our cognitive processes. Participants are required to summarize each chapter, give presentations, and actively join in class discussions.
