Course Description

There is no “natural” state of human beings; the state of human beings is essentially constructed through the cultural/social environment in which they live and thus essentially diversified. Cultural anthropology is the endeavour to explore this diversity by looking into concrete forms of people’s lived realities from across the globe.
In these introductory lectures for cultural anthropology, special focus is made on issues related to gender/sexuality, which shall make an especially fertile arena to discuss human realities, that are deeply - often far more deeply, than commonly assumed - ingrained in culture/society.
