This course aims to provide students with knowledge about the way English has changed into what it is now. To be more specific, we will trace the origins of the English language from the inception of Proto-Indo European through Present-day English. We will not only provide linguistic description of the various periods but also find out historical, social, and cultural influences of each era, which might help students understand the global language from many different viewpoints.
