Course Description

There are various fields in the principle of linguistics, the science of human language, which includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. This course will introduce the first two of them, focusing on the differences between the English language and the Japanese language in their basic patterns of sounds, syllables, accents and intonation. In so doing, it also aims to help students improve their practical skills for English.
