Course Description

The topic of this seminar is “Disorders due to substance use or addictive behaviours” (ICD-11, WHO). There is no universally accepted scientific definition of the term addiction exists, however, the current usage of the term appears to connote a repetitive behavior associated with an adverse health outcome, suggesting a “loss of control”. In this seminar you will learn and examine the concepts and research methods on drug dependence and addictive behaviors, thereby contributing to elucidate the mechanisms mediating the transition of behaviors to become “obsessive”.
