Course Description

This class reads Kojiki(古事記). Kojiki describes that it was written in 712 in its preface and is the oldest book in our country. Kojiki consists of three volumes which separately describe roughly the age of gods, the mixed ages of gods and human and the ages of human. The purpose of this book is to explain the origin and legitimacy of emperor's prerogative by tracing back to the age of myth. However, Kojiki describes the story of people who was defeated in the battle for resistance against the emperor's prerogative. This has resulted in forming abundant resource of literature. This class aims at studying the method and subject of myth and story from scratch through reading Kojiki.
