Course Description

This course deals with the history and development of Japanese manufacturing industries which contributed the development of postwar Japanese economy. Selected industries are textile, iron and steel, and automobiles. We focus on how the government and firm's relations, technological and managerial improvement of firms, and the international trade and investments influenced development of each industry.
