Course Description

Demographic trends in our contemporary world are quite diverse and have attracted a great deal of attention, since they deeply impact the economy and society of a given country or region. In the spring semester, the elementary concepts and methods for analyzing trends such as birth, death and migration are discussed, and important Japanese literature is read. In the fall semester, presentations are given by participants in preparation for the Master thesis.
