Course Description

This class aims to learn the modern and contemporary Western history (1) through understanding the fundamental concepts of capitalism, national state, war and peace, gender, globalism etc., (2) through reading of the exerpts of the important historical materials. It focuses on the 20th century, the 1st and the 2nd World War, Natism and Fascism, emergence of the age of nuclear weapons, and global warming. Students are expected to understand Western History in the light of the actuality of the contemporaneous world, and to consider how to make the world in the future.
