Course Description


Agriculture is important to human life not only in maintaining human life but also in providing employment and sustaining human environment. As agriculture is tightly connected with food system which includes food processing industries and restaurants, we have to study agriculture in its connection with food system. This course offers an overview of the current food and agricultural systems of Japan. We will start the courseⅠ with discussing the consumer bihavior and food system. Then the present condition of agriculture in Japan will be explained. Finally we will try to understand why agriculture becomes the weakest part of Japanese economy.
