Course Description

Students of the Chinese course basically learn Putonghua, Modern Standard Chinese officially used in the People's Republic of China, with simplified Chinese characters and Hanyu Pinyin, the official romanization system for Modern Standard Chinese in Mainland China. However, it is also useful to learn Taiwanese Mandarin with traditional Chinese characters and Bopomofo especially for students who study at Yi-Shou University in the sophomore year. In this course, students will increase their vocabulary and study basic grammar, comparing Taiwanese Mandarin with Putonghua that they learn in the other Chinese language classes.
