There is no “natural” state of human beings; their state of being is essentially constructed and thus inevitably diversified through cultural and social environment they live in. Cultural anthropology is the endeavour to explore this diversity by looking into concrete forms of people’s lives from across the globe. In this introductory series of lectures in cultural anthropology, special focus is put on issues surrounding gender/sexuality. The issues shall make an especially fertile arena to discuss human living, that is deeply - often far more deeply than commonly assumed - ingrained in culture and society.
