Course Description

This course is a survey of the economic history of western Europe, and it introduces our students to the subject matter and methodology of economic history. Economic history uses concepts and theories from the social sciences as a starting point for studying the development of real economies and understanding them in their psychological, philosophical and cultural contexts. Our students gain a real understanding of Thorstein Veblen's analysis of technological change. The course consists of lectures, readings, identifying actual conditions through academic achievement surveys, two small test with 25 questions and Term-end Exam Paper Review.
