Course Description

By reading Chinese novels, particularly “strange novels(志怪)”, we aim at thinking about outlook on the view of the human being and the world.
Many short tales that ghosts and goblins play active parts are so familiar in Chinese literature.
By this class, from them we choose the tales showing characteristics of China well, and taste them.
In the first half year, we will mainly read “The Search on the Mystery(捜神記)”. From this, we will understand the view of another world and our eyes will open wide.
